Cool Colors, But Doesn't Necessarily "Work"

I really like the vibrant and different shades of colors this company sells and I especially like that this hair dye/conditioner doesn't require you to bleach your hair beforehand (plus it doesn't smell like chemicals either). Downside to it is the dye/color unfortunately doesn't really stay or show much. I have "virgin" (never bleached) dark brown, almost black hair that's unfortunately thin and despite using the extreme red dye, it didn't show much. I expected it to be very noticeable, but it only shows when the sunlight or any light hits it at an angle. I also noticed the dye seems to "stain" my scalp instead of my hair, but luckily it scratches off within a few days, as so does the dye with every wash. In my opinion, I think this dye works better with ppl who already have light to maybe medium colored hair or those who have already bleached their hair previously. I do appreciate them having sample sizes in order to try out different colors and see what shows and what doesn't so if the color doesn't work, at least you didn't spend much on a big container.

I love the smell

I love the smell. The color is vibrant! The only issue I have is that there is not enough in one container for my hair. I've got very long hair and I end up using all of it to get it all. If it was bigger that I can use twice I'd be happy

I'm surprised by all the negative…

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews here. But then I've never had to deal with their customer service. I think their ads may be misleading. I've just tried their espresso brown, and I read the reviews after. I was so scared that my hair would turn to a strange shade as the color would fade. BUT I love how it's darkened my highlights and added a nice warm chocolaty color to my dark chestnut/almost black hair. I don't have gray hairs, but I don't think it would cover them, since my roots are back to dark chestnut after a wash.Long story short, it appears to me that the color of your hair before you use overtone seems to be key. And this is just a way to add shine to your hair, not to change your hair color or cover your grays.

I have used three colors from overtone…

I have used three colors from overtone and only had an issue with 1 of them. Espresso Brown: this was the color that I had a serious issue with. Smelt awesome, made my hair feel awesome. However it stained my nails badly every single time I washed it and it faded badly in certain spots on my bleached hair. It refused to stay the same shade all over even though my bleach was even all over. Never stained anything other than my nails. Vibrant Orange: Loved every minute of this color and it lasted quite a long time. I wash my hair twice a week maybe three depending on the dandruff issue. Fade was a very nice shade too. Did have to bleach my hair a bit to get the remainder out but that was cause I didn't want to wait anymore. Vibrant Green: the color I am currently using and I am finding no issues with it at all. Washed my hair once already (two days after initially using it) and it looks exactly like the initial application. Gave me the shade of green that was going for so I am very happy.

Not the worst, not the best.

I went to cosmetology school. I know that these sorts of bright colors show best on really blonde/platinum hair. Still I was just desperate to have less orangey hair. I ordered blue for brown hair, and although it wasn’t back ordered when I ordered it, it took about 3 weeks to get here. I did a strand test. Figured it was pretty dark. Think like navy blue. I didn’t hate the color, So I did it all. I left it all on my head for about 30 mins. I rinsed it out let it dry and it was fine. It’s not something I’d order again, but I did notice that my hair was NOTICEABLY softer and less frizzy. So the colors meh, but I did like how it left my hair feeling. *side note; rinse it REALLY well. I don’t think I rinsed it as well as I should have the first time and my scalp was super itchy. I ended up washing it with my regular shampoo and conditioner and that appears to have cleared it up.

Excellent Results for Brown Hair - Tinted with Highlights

A girlfriend of mine introduced me to this product because I complimented her on her excellent color. She bleaches all of her hair then colors it bright (almost neon) colors. Her pink hair had faded to a very pale shade and when I saw her next with an excellent shade of very bright/dark pink, she explained that she used the Extreme Magenta Coloring Conditioner to get her through the time before her next hair appointment. Currently, she is using Vibrant Purple Coloring Conditioner - and it's brilliant. I was so excited to try this product, though was not expecting to have the exact same results as we have such different hair types. And i do not fully bleach my hair. I have very fairly thick, dark brown, silky straight hair. I do blonde/copper highlights and then tint with different colors. Sometimes multiple colors at once. I have been looking for a better way to care for my hair - conditioning AND maintaining the color. OVERTONE is the only product that delivers on both. I use the Daily Conditioner. The first one I purchased was the 'Purple for Brown Hair'. And it made my purple tint last for almost 3 months. When those highlights grew out, I got them redone and tinted my hair red (red/auburn tones over my blonde/copper highlights). I then purchased the 'Red for Brown Hair'. I started using it 3 weeks after i got the color, which is when it usually starts to look faded. I shampoo my hair about 3x a week (more, if I am more active) and I follow that with the Overtone conditioner. The red color is maintaining splendidly. The best thing about OVERTONE, however, is how well it conditions my hair. Admittedly, I have been blessed with naturally silky, strong hair. But with all the bleaching, coloring and daily styling - I could (and have) damage my hair. My hair is my one real vanity and because i wear it long, I need to use the best products to keep it healthy. I will spend money on good stuff. I am THRILLED with this product. It far exceeded my expectations. I super am excited to try a different color, possibly the Teal!

No more gray roots!

I have shoulder length hair that is starting to gray. In a moment of desperation I dyed it back to my natural color before Thanksgiving (Holiday photos!) I hate it and am trying to let it grow out but have about an inch of gray on the roots of my hair now. Nobody knows though! I've been using OverTone's coloring conditioner sparingly on my roots then combing it through so it blends. You would never know my roots are gray! I am so glad to have tried this! I have to reapply periodically (but much less often since I started using the daily color conditioner) but it is super easy. I do recommend that you use gloves when you apply it because it does discolor your hands / nails temporarily but nothing awful. All other aspects of the product are good. No bad small, super conditioning, easy to apply, etc etc etcIf you are struggling with unsightly roots this has worked beautifully. I have shared with a few friends who now use it regularly. With Covid none of us can get to the salon anyway so this has been a great solution!

Awesome Products, Slow Shipping

Awesome products! My hair is bleached platinum rn and I use the pastel purple deep treatment to make it purple for a while. The product was surprisingly long lasting considering I didn’t use the daily conditioner to maintain it, and it improved my damaged hair texture a lot. The only problem I’ve had is really slow shipping. I really wish they sold their products in big stores like target or Walmart.
